program goal
The goal of the program is to develop and demonstrate innovative technologies for urban flood damage reduction and stream restoration in arid and semi-arid watersheds. Initially, the proposed demonstration project will support the needs in the southwest, with highest initial interest being in the State of Nevada. Under the UFDP, tools or technologies that have been recently developed under DRI or ERDC research programs (e.g., TOWNS, RSM), and have significant potential application to urban flooding and channel restoration projects in arid regions are to be applied to flood damage reduction/channel restoration projects for demonstration and evaluation.
